Local Candidates Unopposed

By the close of the Town's Qualifying Period on April 30 at 4 p.m. two candidates had qualified for the two seats up for election in 2024 on the five-member Town Council. These candidates are:

  • Paul Knapp (incumbent)
  • Daniel McEvoy

Since they ran unopposed, they are immediately deemed elected to the seats. Orchid's election will not appear on the ballot in November. At the regular Town Council meeting following the November election, they will be sworn into four-year terms and appointments to the roles of Mayor and Vice-Mayor will be made by the newly seated Town Council.

Mr. Paul Knapp has served on the Town Council since January 11, 2018, when he was appointed to fill a vacancy. He had been appointed to the Local Planning Agency previously. He was unopposed in the election later that same year for the remainder of the term. In November 2020, he stood for election again and won the seat for a full term. He has served as the Town's Vice-Mayor since that time also.

Mr. Daniel McEvoy was appointed to the Local Planning Agency in January 2023 and was reappointed to this advisory committed of the Town a year later.

Congratulations to both candidates!
